Almost all shops, private offices, banks and financial
institutions, petrol pumps, business establishments were closed throughout the
day to observe shut down called by Hurriyat Conference seeking justice for
those lost lives in turmoil for last several years. Public transport was also
off the roads, while some private vehicles were seen plying on all the major
roads and highways across the Kashmir
Valley.
But in Jammu,
transporters call for chakka jam created impact over the public. However, later
in the evening transport services were resumed. It is important to mention that
chakka jam here was organized in favor of president transporters association
and former MLC, T. S Wazir, who was arrested a day ago allegedly for having
links with murder of Raju Chopra and family.
