Jammu, April 7, (Scoop News)-Outlining the initiatives to be taken by the Government in the Information Technology sector to make Jammu and Srinagar IT smart cities, the Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Service and Sports Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari has said that hotspots would be provided to the twin capital cities of the State besides IT Bhawan would also be established at Bemina and IT parks would be set up at Gathi, Kathua, Zainakote and Budgam.
The Minister was speaking at a review meeting of the Information Technology Department, Jammu and Kashmir e-governance agency (JaKeGA) and State e-Mission Team (SeMT).
Minister of State for Information Technology and Finance, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Secretary Information and Science Technology, Sourab Bhagat, CEO JaKeGA, and other senior officers were present.
It was given out in the meeting that IT department through SeMT and JaKeGA has completed more than 10 projects, 13 projects are under implementation and 12 projects are in process of sanction and clearance. In coming years, IT department envisages around 100 Government to Citizen Electronic Services from major public dealing departments. All the projects aim at simplifying the Government work, making it transparent and easily available to the citizens, the meeting was told.
The meeting was informed that work on the establishment of J&K State Wide Area Network (SWAN) will commence along with the e-District and State Service Delivery Gateway (SSDG) project which shall start delivering the citizen services from the District level to the Block level and will become accessible to the citizens through the State Data Centre.
The IT department in future envisages having the Wi-Fi facility at 4 tourist locations of Katra, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Dal Lake-Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
The Ministers while appreciating the endeavours by the department for putting the State on IT map exhorted the officers to undertake purposeful and meaningful activities so that the purpose with which the organizations were established is met to the fullest extent.
Earlier, the Secretary IT made a PowerPoint presentation and briefed the meeting about the e-governance road map for next 5 years.
