Jammu, July 16 (Scoop News) –It was indeed a moment of honour for Jammuites when two members of Bharat Scouts & Guide hailing from Jammu were given Bharat Scouts & Guide Rashtrapati Award by President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, in a function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Thursday.

Miss Kanika Chouhan was also one of the winners of Bharat Scouts & Guide Governor Award, which she received from Hon’ble Governor Shri N.N.vohra in the year 2009.
National Conference President & Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah also organised a function at his official residence at
‘It’s a proud moment for all of us, it’s really a big thing to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan itself, and for us we were invited here. And getting this honour from the Presdent of India, is like a dream come true.’ Said Kanika and Anmol. They sdaid that ‘the mission of scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world, and that is what we have been committed to all our life.’
It may be mentioned here that the Scouts and Guides movement is spread across the country; there are over 25 lakh scouts and over 18 lakh guides in the country.Formed in 1950, The Bharat Scouts and Guides is a premier organisation of scouting. It is a non-formal education movement with training methods based on law and promises and suited to various age groups.
