Jammuties not expect anything from the parties like NC, PDP & Congress: BJP

Udhampur-J&K,December 29 ,(Vijay Kumar) –  Member National Executive & former State President of BJP Dr. Nirmal Singh, in his address, said that the people of Jammu should not expect anything from the parties like NC, PDP and the Congress, as these parties have ruled the state during last 62 years and proved to be Kashmiri speaking -centric.

Addressing party’s 1-day convention of BJP activists from Udhampur and Reasi districts at Anand Palace, Udhampur, BJP leader Nirmal Singh  said the plight of the refugees from West Pakistan, PoK, refugees of 1965, and 1971, internally displaced Kashmirs, Gujjars, Bakerwals, Paharis and SCs is same as it was on day one. He said there is no one to listen to the farmers. High claims are made to strengthen democracy at panchayats levels but under the garb of Special Status, 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution have not been extended to the state. He said the only thing on which the Congress has always concentrated in the state is to appease a handful of Kashmir-based leaders at the cost of security of citizens and India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir. The present exercise under "quiet diplomacy’ on the name of "peace talks" has been designed to grant concessions to separatists and Justice Saghir Ahmed’s recommendations too seem to be part of the same policy.

Dr. Singh, while presenting the document before the gathering said that this document speaks about the processes as well as the solutions to the problem of Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas, the other documents issued by separatists and soft separatists are designed to dilute the India’s sovereignty and are communal in nature. This document is secular in nature, strengthens Jammu and Kashmir’s relations with the rest of India and ensures the benefits of liberal and secular Indian democracy to the people of Jammu and Kashmir at large.

BJP Leader of Legislators party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta announced that party leaders, alongwith all the 11 MLAs will sit on dharna outside Governor House on December 30 against report of Justice Saghir Ahmed . Thereafter, Mandal level protests will be held on January 4 and the copies of the report will be burnt. He said the recommendations in the report seems to be prepared as per the wishes of the Congress and National Conference.

He said the widespread resentment against the report has now made it clear that Justice Saghir Ahmed has totally failed to discharge his duty as an independent body. He said the recommendations in the report are anti-democracy and anti-Jammu as it has not taken into cognizance long pending demand of Jammuites to increase number of seats as per population, area and terrain. Jammu having more population and more area has only 37 assembly segments as compared to Kashmir valley, which has 46 assembly segments despite the fact its population and area is less in comparison to Jammu region. This demand was vociferously projected by almost all the legislators and also representatives of different political parties to the working group. Justice Saghir’s report has been evasive on ticklish issues like abrogation of Article 370, granting of Autonomy, withdrawal of AFSPA and establishing regional councils for equitable developments of all the three regions of J&K. Justice Saghir, instead of coming forth right on these issues, has left it to the centre and the PM to take the decision, thereby diluting group’s importance as a recommendatory in nature. It has been very outright in its recommendations on trivial issues which basically are not concerned with the main subject of strengthening centre-state relationship; therefore, the people of entire Jammu region, as also political parties are disgusted with the report and are rightly protesting.

State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, MLA Baldev Sharma, State Secretary Pawan Gupta, Distt. President Dina Nath Bhagat and Som raj Khajuria also addressed the convention.
