Japan has reacted with anger and defiance to a video appearing to show the beheading of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto by an Islamic State militant. The video comes less than a week after the apparent beheading of another Japanese man, Haruna Yukawa.
Mr. Abe called the killing a “heinous act”, adding that Japan would work with the international community to bring those responsible for Mr Goto’s apparent murder to justice, but stopped short of addressing calls of a formal declaration of war!
There has been strong condemnation from the US and other allies in the fight against IS.
“I extend my deepest condolences, on behalf of the men and women of the Department of Defense, to the family of Kenji Goto. Like many of his journalist colleagues, Mr. Goto went to dangerous places to tell stories that needed to be told. His murder, which follows that of his countryman Haruna Yukawa, reminds the world of the threat we confront in the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), while it reinforces our global coalition’s commitment to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL. The United States and its military will continue to stand alongside our Japanese allies, and we send our thoughts and prayers to Mr. Goto’s loved ones and all the people of Japan”, statement by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel.

Japanese stunned, shocked, outraged over beheading
“I had been praying for his release, but God did not hear my prayers,” said Ekken Choh, 68, who works at a jeweler. “All people are brothers and sisters. It is so pointless to kill”, he said as he wept bitterly!
“They should have paid the ransom. This is about human life, and that comes first and foremost. We had to save his life. I want our country to first value human life. The fight against terrorism comes second,” said a 51-year-old volunteer who only gave his first name, Masahiko, to avoid a backlash in a society that traditionally frowns upon the outspoken.

As we speak millions of Japanese are mourning his death.
This involves intense prayer and emotion.
Reports indicate people are openly weeping in the streets, and some are absolutely besides themselves with grief. Goto’s mother, when she walks down the street people bow and collapse on their knees. Tens od thousands of letters expressing opinions are flooding into government offices – some demanding revenge.

Japanese military reacts!
A high ranking Japanese military officer (and modern day Samurai), who wished not to be identified said this. “I will devote my life to seeking revenge for these murders. I will be seeking to hunt down and kill anyone responsible for these murders…”(end statement).
Note: The samurai is depicted as a sort of spiritual killing machine, absorbed in loyalty and death, the death not only of others, whom he dispatches with equanimity for his master, but also of himself — which he is honor-bound to bring about in such an oath. It is the ancient code of bushido which guides this behavior.
Another anonymous military officer said: “We should declare war on ISIS and begin sending combat troops there (Syria and Iraq) right now.”
God help the entire world if they do!
During WWII it took the drop of two atomic bombs to stop Japan – each individual soldier in the Imperial Army was prepared to die for emperor.
Soldiers of the Imperial Army were known for racking up racking up hellaciously-obscene body count. Some say that spirit is dead but the fear is it could be rekindled as a raging and unquenchable fire. Individually the Japanese soldier’s will and tenacity to fight are border line fanatic. Individual soldiers would in times past readily offer their lives in combat and almost never surrendered!
Especially the Kamikaze of WWII! They were the original suicide bombers!

Note: Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution was legislated in 1946, immediately following the end of the Second World War. Article 9 was legislated under the understanding that the most effective means to guarantee Japan to never wage war again, was not to possess any war potential.
Article 9, Japan’s “renunciation of war”, and the prohibition of maintaining any war potential, is Japan’s solemn pledge and vow to the people of Asia, the Pacific, and the entire world it will never war wage another war of aggression – EVER!
