The function was organized by Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, where the Minister for tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora was Chief Guest while the Minister of State for tourism, Culture and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani was Guest of Honour.
Among other dignatories, Justice Tiwari, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.B. Vayas, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Department, Atul Dulloo, Director General Police, K. Rajindera, Director ,North Zone Cultural Centre Allahabad, Anand Shukhulla, Dr. Sanjay, Ministry of Home Affairs, Social Activist, Dr. Wanchoo and other senior Central and State Officers were present on the occasion.

Calling the music an essential part of the culture, Jora said that during the last two decades, the youth could not get favorable environment for proving their talent in different spheres. However, he said, now the time has come that we all including civil society pay more attention towards the betterment of our budding youth, so that they may able to compete not only on national but also on the international level, as our today’s generation is our future. He said, no doubt, the State Culture Academy is trying its best to revive the old glory of traditional folk forms by encouraging the artists, conducting cultural programme to educate the new generation about their rich traditional culture, but he stressed that the private sector should come forward and conduct such programs to aware the common people about their rich culture.
On this occasion, he assured the gathering that all necessary steps will be taken for promoting and preserving the rich old traditions, values and culture of all the three regions of the State.
Aslam Wani while addressing the jam packed SKICC Hall, said that the programme has already been organized in Leh, Kargil and now it is being conducting in the Sumer Capital of the State and finally would be culminated at winter capital of the State to promote cultural ethos of all the three regions of the State. He said by organizing such programmes, aimed provide platform for our children to show their talent before music and culture lovers. He said that due to some non congenial atmosphere for some period, our best talented youth could not get chance like other brethren of other parts of the country. However, he said the Academy have already taken many initiatives in conducting cultural programmes for promotion of the culture. He said the God has bestowed unique beauty to the valley and also we have a unique culture, that is necessary to promote and protect and it is the responsibility of every individual of our society.
Earlier, Shukhalla while giving a detail account of the objective of organizing this programme, Jashan-e-Kashmir (Cultural Workshop) is to promote and preserve our culture. He said the students of the 30 schools are participating in this workshop and the interested youths would be imparted training during 15 days training programme and final selection of best performers of all the regions will be held in National Capital at the end of this months and the final selected artists would be taken to Bombay, Ajmer and also abroad.
