Jeanne-Claude, who co-created with her husband Christo monumental art installations including ‘The Gates’ and the wrapping of the Reichstag, passed away last night following a brain aneurysm. She was 74.
A family statement said that her greiving husband Christo was "committed to honor the promise they made to each other many years ago: that the art of Christo and Jeanne-Claude would continue." Jeanne-Claude is also survived by her son Cyril Christo, a poet.
Jeanne-Claude and Christo shared an unusually close bond, and were both born on June 13, 1935. They moved to New York City in 1960 and have lived here since.

More than 2,500 people were part of the effort to construct and install The Gates in Manhattan’s Central Park.
