Je’niece Childress said Sunday that she believed her father, Bernie Mac, would recover from his three week bout of pneumonia that ultimately ended up killing the comedian this past Saturday. However as time went on Je’niece Childress and her mother, Rhonda Mac braced for the worst. Childress said Mac had been at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago since mid-July.
Bernie Mac, a comedian known for his hit television series, "The Bernie Mac Show" and his work in films such as "Ocean’s Eleven", "Bad Santa", and the "Transformers", also suffered from sarcoidosis. The disease, which inflames the lungs and produces lumps of cells in the body’s organs is said to be unrelated to his death.
Je’niece Childress, 30, is Mac’s only child. Her mother, Rhonda Mac, was married to Bernie for for 32 years.
