Once upon a time,Orissa was known as a place of natural, ethereal beauty endowed with abudant mineral reserves. In the early eighties, a resident of Bhubaneswar felt no necessity of electric fans due to presence of trees and greeneries.
Now-a-days, the scenic greenery is replaced with monstrous concrete jungle with literally unberable temperature in Summer.Although in the last decade, natural calamities appeared as warning signals for more natural disasters in the future, the construction of apartments and other buildings at the cost of termination of trees has grown many times. Excavations of mountations for mineral reserve and emissions from mushrooming factories have literally destroyed the natural beauty of Orissa. The environmental scientists of Orissa are always apprehehensive of major earth quakes and diasters like Tsunami, super-cyclone, flood and drought. In the past, this state had always suffered from flood, femine and cyclones.
