Jerry Buck Inman, a convicted sex offender, confessed on Tuesday to the rape and murder of 20-year-old college student Tiffany Marie Souers in 2006.
Tiffany Marie Souers was an engineering student at Clemson University when she was kidnapped, raped and then strangled to death by Inman in her Clemson, South Carolina apartment. Inman’s DNA was found in Souers’ apartment and he was arrested about two weeks after Souers was found dead.
Jerry Buck Inman had served about 18 years in prisons in North Carolina and Florida for rapes he committed in those states when he was a teenager. He was released from prison only nine months before Tiffany Marie Souers’ death. He is also a suspect in two rapes in Alabama and Tennessee that occurred during those nine months.
Jerry Buck Inman could receive the death penalty for Souers’ murder. A psychiatrist testified that wanted to die for the crimes he committed. He will be sentenced on September 8.
