ISAIAH: 40: 3-5
"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it."
These verses from Isaiah not only announce the first coming of Jesus by telling us reminding us of Jesus first arrival and His announcement by John the baptist, but as we see in the following verses, reference is also being made to Jesus second coming his return.?
400 years before Jesus arrival in Bethlehem? as the baby / The Messiah, Isaiah a prophet of Almighty God, declared to the people of Israel through a Holy Prophecy the advent of the people of Israel’s Messiah, and for more that 400 years, God’s chosen people kept vigilant awaiting the arrival of a deliverer.
30 years after the birth of Jesus Emmanuel, along comes a man known as John The Baptist, the son of Elizabeth, cousin to Mary the Mother of Jesus, announcing to all who would listen, that the time of Isaiah’s prophecy fulfillment was at hand, that the Messiah had arrived and walked amongst man, and on that fateful day Jesus arrives at the river Jordan with John seeking baptism in accordance to the holy Hebrew scriptures from Isaiah.
MATTHEW: 3: 13-15
"Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized of him. But John forbad him saying, I have need to be baptized of thee and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, ‘Suffer it to be done so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.’ Then he suffered him."
In order for Jesus to establish himself as the Israelite’s true Messiah, scripture prophecy had to be fulfilled as it had been recorded some 400 years earlier by Isaiah, thus proving Jesus as the true Messiah arrived in the fulfillment of God’s promise so long ago.
It may take Almighty God 400 years, to live up to his promises and his word but we can rest assured that no promise made of God will go unfulfilled. It is with this in mind that Christians the world over remain ever vigilant, knowing that Almighty God still has one major promise to fulfill, that being the "Second Coming of Our Lord Jesus and the end to din and death once and for all time.
