Not often do we find Our Lord Jesus repeating the same line to anyone, especially in the same book and especially not in the same chapter in a book. But in JOHN: 6: Jesus makes the same statement 3 different times, and the statement he makes is extremely significant to Christians born anew. The significance is obvious.
At JOHN: 6: 35; Jesus describes himself as "The Bread of Life" Then at JOHN: 6: 40 Jesus states " He who believeth on Him shall have everlasting life: and I will raise him up on the last day." And a second time at JOHN: 6: 44; "No man can come to the me except the Father which hath sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up on the last day." And the third time at JOHN: 6: 54; "Whosoever eateth my flesh, and drink my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up on the last day."
Three times Jesus makes this promise to the people telling them that if they believe that He is indeed the Messiah, the Son of God, and if they will accept Him as the Son of Man and believe all that He has shown them and taught them, that He will raise them up, to be with Him in Heaven and they shall have eternal life.
I don’t know about the rest of you but for me, this message is music to my ears. It is a message that every Christian should be clinging to and every wanna be Christian and soon to become Christian or even a back-sliding Christian, should be straining to grasp hold of and clutch close to their hearts.
When the narrow path to salvation is lit by the brightest light in the world you won’t have any problem to see it, day or night, and Jesus is that light. As one of God’s sheep Jesus will guide us and if need be, He will carry us on His shoulder, back to God Our Father.
This is Almighty God, in the person of Jesus Christ, promising, PROMISING! to all who would believe in Him and in His crucifixion for the remission of sin and His resurrection from the grave having defeated death, that one day, then last day He Jesus Himself will personally come down from heaven, and receive each one of us individually as His redeemed, and escort us back to heaven, and back to Our Father Almighty God. I mean think of it, Jesus will be your own personal escort back home.
Therefore as we now see, the message the lesson that Jesus the Rabbi, The Highest of the High Priests was teaching, not just to His Apostles, but also to those following Him, both the Pharisees and the common Jews, was and is extremely important.
The only other time I can recall this happening, is after his resurrection, just before his leaving His Apostles and ascending into the heavens, when 3 times He asks Peter, "Do You Love Me" and 3 times Peter has to respond, "Yes".
