On this occasion, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Nasir Aslam Wani was also present and complemented the department for their commendable work in highlighting all events of all the departments associated with Housing and Urban Development in a most professional and efficient manner. The photo and film exhibition had highlighted the development made in famous Dal Lake, making Jammu and Srinagar as greater cities of J&K State, developing all the major towns of the state progress made through JDA and SDA, contribution of LAWDA in protecting the water bodies, housing board progressing in enhancing in its activities, new scientific sanitation and sewerage system launched through municipal corporations and municipal bodies of the towns.
The photo exhibition depicted major achievements registered in Housing and Urban Development department together with splendid documentary highlighting major strides the department has taken in the modernization of cities and upgradation of civic amenities in urban locations.
Appreciating the efforts of Directorate of Information and Public Relations under the dynamic guidance of Director Information Kh. Farooq Renzu Shah in organizing photo and film exhibition, Deputy Chief Minister said that these occasions are becoming really historic and nostalgic when all these events are presented in a visual and still capsule. He said that these events are eye opener for those who try to adopt ostrich approach with regard to development.
Lauding the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in steering the State towards progress and prosperity, Deputy Chief Minster said that it is joint venture of coalition partners to lay strong foundation for everlasting development projects in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister expressed his concern on the reemergence of polythene menace. He said that last year it was successfully banned and now this year this reemergence is required to be again curbed with heavy hands as per the laws which have already been promulgated in this effect.
He said steps are afoot to construct new housing colonies under master plan and bring sound look in colonies as well as people living there.
Deputy Chief Minister impressed upon officers to work with dedication to implement various development schemes. He also appealed people to monitor and supervise the activities of Government and strengthen the hands of Government in providing basic amentias to people.
Minister of State for H&UD said since this coalition Government took over, there will be no tehsil or district where the benefit of development schemes must not have reached under the patronage of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
Quoting the proverb ‘well begun is half done’, Wani said that it is through this film show and exhibition that he could feel that a sound beginning has been made and more land mark projects would be taken in hand in times to come.
Impressing upon the officers to work with more dedication, Wani said that we are policy planners and officers are on the ground to execute the works in a proper fashion.
Referring to recent disturbances in the valley, Wani said that the Government is facing many challenges in launching new projects but with determined efforts the Government would succeed in crossing all the bottlenecks coming in the way. He said recent District Development Board meetings reflected that sufficient funds earmarked for various projects have been spent till date judiciously. He said a bit fine tuning in implementation is necessary to make administration more vibrant and accountable.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Director Information, Kh. Farooq Renzu Shah said that the department has taken these measures with an objective to preserve the landmark developments the state is witnessing in different sectors under coalition government. He said that CDs would be distributed to all the offices and made available in Community Information Centres at Block level for public shows. He said the film shows will help the people to know the working of the government and its policies.
The function was among others attended by former Minister Ch. Gharu Ram, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Director Local Bodies, Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, officers of Housing and Urban Development.
