JK Academy holds On-the-Spot Children’s Painting Competition

Srinagar, August 29(Scoop News)- To promote talent and provide platform to young children for testing their hands in fine art, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Thursday organized Children’s On-the-Spot Painting Competition here in which students of 23 schools participated. The participants were divided into two – Senior and Amateur – groups.
The Competition was inaugurated by Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad, in the lawns of the Academy at Lal Mandi here. He underscored the importance of the competition in promoting talent among young students and expressing their understanding of issues through the medium of painting. He said the Children’s on-the Spot Painting Competition is a regular activity of the Academy which, however, was undertaken in Kashmir after a gap of few years this time. He said the On-the-Spot Painting Competition is held in four groups of Infant, Junior, Senior and Amateur and today’s competition included the last two groups, while another competition will be shortly held for the Infant and junior groups. He thanked the participating schools for making the competition lively and successful.
The event evoked enthusiasm among the students, both boys and girls, who participated in large numbers.
The Amateur Group included students in the age group of 17 to 20 years and the Senior Group had students in the age group of 11to 16 years.
The Young Group was given the topic of Environment Awareness while no topic was assigned to the Amateur Group. A panel of painting experts will judge the works of the students and the winners of the competition in each group will be given away prizes at a specially held function later.
In the Amateur Group the winners will be given first prize of Rs. 1400, second prize of Rs.1000 and the third prize of Ra. 800. In the Senior Group, the first prize carries Rs. 1000 cash, second prize Rs. 700 and three consolation prizes of Rs. 500 each.
Officers of the Academy and teachers and parents of the participating students were present on the occasion.
The participating schools included Presentation Convent, Rajbagh, Mallinson Girls School, Sheikhbagh, Burn Hall School, Sonawar, Model High School, Jawaharnagar, Government Girls Higher Secondary Institute, Kothibagh, Srinagar British School, Nowgam, MET Secondary Educational Institute, Bagat-e-Barzulla, Linton Hall School, Rajbagh, National School, Karan Nagar, Simin Rose Garden Montessori School, Bagat-e-Barzulla, New Convent High School, Rajbagh, Caset Experimental School, Rainawari, Walden School, Natipora, Government Boys Higher secondary School, Jawaharnagar, SP Higher Secondary Institute, M A Road, Lawrence Vidhya Bhawan, Srinagar, Green Valley Educational Institute, Illahi Bagh, Paramount Public High School, Bemina, MPML Higher secondary School, Khanqah-e-Moalla, Tiny Hearts School, Tengpora and Jawahar Navodhya Vidhyalaya, Khan Sahab Budgam.
