2 terrorists among 6 killed in militants attack
Jammu, March 20, (Scoop News)-The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, . Kavinder Gupta condemned the terrorist attack on the Rajbagh Police Station in Kathua district.
On behalf of the entire House, the Speaker condemned the incident asking the government to take measures to strengthen the security network and check such attacks from happening. He said the sympathies of the entire House are with the families of those who were martyred in the cowardly attack.
Condemning the cowardly act, the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh earlier gave details about the incident to the House and said that terrorists attacked the Rajbagh police Station at 6:18 am after killing the Santry on duty, entered the Police Station. He said the whole area has been cordoned by the Police and CRPF Jawans and encounter is still raging on. He said as per the details available to him, 10 people including 2 police, 7 CRPF and 1 civilian were injured in the attack so far and they have been evacuated to Kathua hospital. He said since the area is still under security cordon and security forces are still engaged to flush out terrorists, it is not possible to present all the details at the moment.
Meanwhile as per latest reports came in that two terrorists among six killed in a ‘fidayeen’ attack on police station, Kathua.
Reports said that six persons have been killed in the attack including two terrorists, two CRPF personnel, a policeman and a civilian while 10 others have been injured.
According to an injured CRPF constable Bharat Prabhu said that the terrorists wearing Army uniforms intercepted a jeep going from Jammu to Pathankot on the pretext of checking the vehicle.
The ultras then hijacked the jeep which had three passengers on board and fled towards the Rajbagh Police Station where they opened fire on a sentry and killed him.
The terrorists then hurled grenades at the police station and opened indiscriminate fire.
Nine persons have been injured in the attack including seven CRPF personnel, a policeman and a civilian.
This is the first major terror attack in the state since the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state on March 1.
