J&K Assembly passes four bills

 Jammu, March 02 (Scoop News) -Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly passed four bills today.

            A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1961 (L.A. Bill No.1 of 2010) was moved by Minister for Labour and Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik. The Bill aims at making a provision for appeal against the order to the Provident Fund Commission by the aggrieved employees within 30 days for review of the order. The amendment also enables the concerned officer to review his own order on his own motion after affording the reasonable opportunity to the aggrieved party.

            Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather moved a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, 2006 (L.A. Bill No.5 of 2010). The aim and objective of the Bill, inter-alia is to avail current year’s benefit of Rs.116 crore for bringing the fiscal deficit to 4% of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP)

             A Bill to prohibit benami transactions and the right to recover property held benami and for matters connected there with or incidental thereto (L.A. Bill No.2 of 2010)”was moved by Minister for Law and parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar. The Bill seeks further curbing the menace of corruption in the State and inter-alia provides for acquisition of properties held benami and that too without payment of any amount.

            Mr. Sagar moved another Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1997 (L.A. Bill No.4 of 2010), which seeks amendment to slash down the rate of interest for arbitral awards to 6% instead of existing 18%.

            All the four Bills were passed by the House through voice vote.
