Jammu/Srinagar, December 21, (Scoop News)- More than 250 students from all the leading schools in Jammu today gathered at Rajinder Park to compete for creating the most interesting images expressing their concern over food wastage.
As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, J&K Bank organised the contest under the theme of ‘Think. Eat. Save. Reduce Your Food-print’; anti-wastage campaign led by the United Nations (UN).
The historic Rajinder Park was filled with imagination and energy as children in the age group of (9-12) kept exploring ways to express their ideas regarding the theme.
The bank’s Zonal Head Jammu Arvind Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The Jury comprising of state’s eminent artists Shri Bhushan Kesar and Dr Lalit Gupta along with Zonal Head Arvind Gupta had a tough time selecting the winners of the contest.
Ankit Chakravarty (12) and Shivang Sharma (10) from Heritage school received 1st and 2ndposition while as Apoorva Gupta (12) from DPS Jammu got 3rd place in the contest.
The jury appreciated the efforts put in at conceptual level and competitive spirit among the kids.
Speaking on the occasion Zonal Head said, “It is the vision of bank’s leadership to connect with the society at large and share not only profits but all the moments of accomplishment. In our Platinum Jubilee year, this Painting competition involving all the prestigious schools of Jammu is part of this sharing spirit.”
He said that the objective of the contest was to sensitize children early about the dangers of food-wastage and make them understand the seriousness of responses from everyone including children.
The issues of socio-cultural and ecological concerns will remain on top of J&K Bank’s CSR agenda across the state, he added.
Arvind Gupta presented ‘Trophy’ and ‘Certificate of Excellence’ to the winners on the occasion. The participants were also awarded with special consolation prizes. Participant schools were conferred with ‘Certificate of Participation’ for each student.(Scoop News)
