(UPDATED) JK Education Minister resigned from the ministry
Jammu, February 10 (Scoop News) Demanding the immediate resignation of State Education Minister Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed, hundreds of BJP activists led by Jammu District President Rajesh Gupta took out a massive protest march from the party hqrs., which after passing through the main bazars of Jammu city, culminated at City Chowk, where the effigy of Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed was burnt amid raising of slogans against the Omar Abdullah led coalition government for shielding the ministers involved in corrupt practices and working for the cause of their family members.
Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria, who also accompanied the party activists, said that the present NC-Congress coalition in the state has totally turned a deaf’s ear towards the burning problems of the people and its one point agenda is to work for the protection and safe guarding of all such elements in the government who have been found involved in illegal means to benefit their own near and dear ones besides looting the public exchequer by adopting all the means. He said that the stoic silent on part of the state Chief Minister over the allegations against two of its Cabinet Ministers —Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed and Taj Moh-i-ud-Din—speaks of its commitment to check corruption and misuse of official position for personal gains. He said that the state government has been misleading the masses on the name of development but the real beneficiaries of this official development are none other than the kiths and kins of ministers.
District President Rajesh Gupta said that today’s protest demonstration was the anger and resentment of the people against Education Minister Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed, who has used his position to influence the Board of School Education officials with a clear motive to get his son passed in the Matric examination. The same has been even proved by the crime branch but unfortunately Peerzada is still enjoying the Cabinet bearth as he has the pattronage of both—State Chief Minister as well as the Congress high command. It is not the first case that a minister in the present coalition has indulged in such practice. In other words it can be said that Congress has become the symbol of corruption and malpractices not only in the state but at the centre as well. While no Congress minister or leader ever raised the issue of unemployment in the state, many of them are busy to devote time in finding ways and means to manage government jobs and degree for their wards. He declared that the BJP will further intensify its agitational mode to seek removal of Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed and legal action against him.

Meanwhile J&K Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed on Friday evening resigned from the council of ministers allegedly involving in the examination scandal.
Peerzada told reporters here that I have resigned from the council of ministers. I have forwarded my resignation to the party high command. He said that I do not want to create problems for the party.
It may be mentioned here that Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Crime Branch has found alleged irregularities in the answer sheets of his foster-son in 10th examination which he had passed and submitted report to the government on February 7.
Meanwhile, Congress party sources claimed that the decision to remove Peerzad was taken by the party high command after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had raised the issue with them. The party high command also held detailed discussions and weighed all the pros and cons before signalling their minister to step down.
