Jammu, August 26 (Scoop News) – BJP National Executive Member and J&K Chief Spokesperspon Dr. Jitendra Singh today lashed out at Congress party for trying to mislead the public in the name of 73rd and 74th Amendments of the Indian Constitution and said that on the one hand the Congress party takes credit that its former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had initiated 73rd and 74th Amendments and that these amendments are a part of the Congres party election manifesto, on the other hand the state Congress unit is finding itself so helpless and suffocated that it is forced to come out on streets to demand implementation of these amendments.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday at party headquarters, Dr. Jitendra Singh said if the state Congress leadership is genuinely honest about its intentions, then in keeping with democratic propriety, the party should immediately withdraw from the coalition government, its ministers should immediately resign from the council of ministers and its leaders and workers should join hands with BJP to launch a joint opposition agitation against National Conference-led government.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will call the bluff of the Congress party and not allow the Congress to “hunt with hounds and run with hare”. The Congress will not be allowed to have the cake and eat it too by enjoying the loaves and fishes of power and indulging in rampant corruption, while at the same time raising slogans for Panchayat empowerment as if they are an opposition party.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the people of the State have not forgotten that for the last three years it is the BJP which has been engaged in district and block level campaign for implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments but the State Congress party maintained convenient silence all along and now when its leaders feel that people are moving away from Congress because of allegations of corruption, scams and land encroachments against its ministers in coalition, they have resorted to the drama of staging fake opposition protests.
He was flanked at the press conference by State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A.) and State Press Secretary Balbir Ram.
