Jammu, October 29(Scoop News)- Terming the meeting of Jammu district’s elected representatives and senior officials of the department called by CAPD Minister as a futile exercise BJP MLAs- Ashok Khajuria, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Shyam Choudhary and Sukhnandan Kumar bycotted the same at Conference Hall of Institute of Engineers, Gandhi Nagar on Monday.
Ashok Khajuria, while elaborating on the reasons to bycott the meeting, said that it has become customary with the present NC-Congress coalition government to convene meetings, seek suggestions for improvement in functioning of its departments and claiming to provide a people friendly dispensation. In reality, it is only an eye wash. He said that the recent decision on bringing down the number of subsidized gas cylinders to six has created problems for the people. Large queues of helpless consumers are seen outside LPG outlets. While genuine consumers are not getting gas for days together, it is sold in black market for rupees 1200-1500 per cylinder. The department is fully aware of the sale of LPG cylinders in black but has not taken any effective step to check the same, which raises questions on seriousness of the department towards performing its duty in an impartial manner.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the CAPD has miserably failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people in rural areas. Even the APL families are not supplied their fixed ration quota in a calender month. There is no LPG cylinder or kerosene oil for rural population. Repeated representations, appeals and complaints even with the CAPD Minister itself has not born any fruit. Referring to one similar meeting held few months ago, Jugal Kishore Sharma alleged that despite valuable and result oriented suggestions not even a single of them was practically adopted. “We do not see any logic of attending the meeting and forwarding suggestions if they do not see the light of the day” he said and added that there is a nexus between the CAPD officials and black marketeers, which is the root cause of sufferings of masses.
Party MLA Shyam Choudhary said if the CAPD Minister and his department is really serious towards providing any respite to the suffering people, he should abandon the idea of convening time pass meetings and rather pull his own officials with clear instructions of working for the mitigation of the people’s problems rather than shielding black sheep in CAPD and black marketeers.
Sukhnandan Kumar, who termed the meeting as an attempt to divert the attention of the masses from failures of CAPD, questioned the logic behind calling meetings when nothing on ground has to be done. He said that merely sitting for few hours after few months on the name of bringing revolution and later confining the decisions taken to files only is not acceptable to us, hence we bycott this meeting. He also charged the CAPD of ignoring the consumers living away from cities and towns. He said that the position of ration supply and LPG in rural areas is not satisfactory but no one in the government has shown any concern towards it.
