Jammu,July 23 (Scoop News) – To commemorate the martyrdom of 2008 Amarnath Land Row Agitation, State BJP organized a programme at Bal Niketan in the premises of Ved Mandir complex, where a large number of leaders and heads of political, social and religious organizations paid their tributes to these sons of the soil.
The day also coincided with the martyr day of Kuldeep Verma, whose sacrifice gave a new direction to the agitation. The portraits of Kuldeep Verma and other martyrs were garlanded and rich tributes paid to them in presence of their family members.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that this day should not be taken as a ritual but we all need to think about why people had to launch agitation, why dozens of people sacrificed their precious lives for a common cause ? It was not the first time that patriotic people had to sacrifice their lives leaving aside comforts of live, shed their love for family and always to be in front of line to serve the motherland. History is witness to the fact that whether 1947, 1965, or Kargil, brave sons of Bharat Maa did not think even for a second to decide whether to receive bullets on chest or compromise for survival.
The historic 2008 Amarnath Land Row Agitation, which saw unprecedented unity among the masses of whole of Jammu province for 63 days, reminded the nationalist people that they will have to come in open against the decision of the state government aimed at hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. He said the slogan of "BAM BAM BOLEY" became a symbol of unity and the world saw people from all walks of life, registering protests in thousands against the government. History stands testimony that old people, women and small children were seen on roads for a noble cause.
Criticising the state government of not implementing the 2008 Agreement in totality, Manhas said that the government should not test the patience of the masses and should stop using police and other agencies to harass the people by implicating them in false cases.
Anmol Verma, son of martyr Kuldeep Verma, read a poem titled "Bigul Bajj Raha" which was written & read by Kuldeep Verma himself at Parade in presence of a large number of people before sacrificing his life in 2008 on this day.
