Srinagar, September 18, (Scoop News)- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who this morning reviewed the latest prevailing aftermath in the State arising out of devastating floods at a high level meeting he chaired here, expressed gratitude to the Governor Jammu and Kashmir State, N.N. Vohra for donating his one month salary in the J&K Chief Minister’s Flood Relief fund.
Omar Abdullah also announced Rupees One Lakh donation out of his salary to the flood relief fund and appealed to the MPs and Legislators of the State to donate as much as they could for the flood affected families. He said MPs and Legislators can also earmark funds out of their MPLADS and CDF for the restoration of flood hit infrastructure and other works. He requested them to make philanthropic initiative in this regard.
The Chief Minister in his appeal to the government employees, business community and well-off people to also donate whole heartedly for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected families by depositing as much amount as they can in the J&K Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund Account No. 0110040100001275 (IFSC – JAKAO) of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited.
The Chief Minister received appraisal of the supply position of essential commodities including distribution of ration, functioning of health institutions, supply of medicines, removal of garbage from roads and streets. He laid thrust on intensifying dewatering of submerged areas in the Srinagar city. He also approved procurement of high density and heavy discharging dewatering pumps for the purpose. Each pump of this make is capable of dewatering 18000 to 20000 liters of water per minute.
The meeting was attended by members of council of Ministers, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretaries, Commissioner Secretaries and various Administrative Secretaries and senior officers.
