Srinagar, September 25 (Scoop News) -Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said education should be made conflict neutral and appealed to the parents, civil society and the students to cooperate with the government in restoring education in the valley. He said the government is committed to functioning of the educational institutions because our children run the risk of losing an year of their career, an year which no one can return to them and so the need for all to work together towards restoration of normal education.
Addressing a high level meeting here today, the Chief Minister appealed to the civil society to rise to the occasion and work together with the state Government to ensure that the students’ education and their future career is not affected.
The meeting was attend by Minister for Education, Peerzda Mohammad Syed, Advisors to Chief Minister, Mubark Gul and Davender Singh Rana, Chief Secretary, S. S. Kapur, Director General of Police, Kuldeep Kuda, Principal Secretary Home, B.R. Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary School Education, Ms. Naseem Lanker, Secretary Higher Education, Ms. Tanveer Jehan, IGP, Kashmir, S. M. Sahei and IGP,CID.
The Chief Minister said it is important for any society to channelize the education of the children and preserve their innocence and ensure a bright career for them in the future. He said all stakeholders in Jammu & Kashmir need to introspect and understand that over the last two decades of turmoil our children have suffered stress at a very tender age and this in turn has affected their ability to create a niche in the competitive world of today despite being highly capable and talented.
Omar appealed to all to rise above their stated positions and ideologies and join hands to secure the career of our future generations which will essentially depend on good education.
Omar said that all endeavours should be made to conduct the examinations as per schedule so that precious academic year of our bright students should not be wasted. He appreciated the concerns of the parents, students and civil society on the whole who are keen for revival of education scenario in the Valley.
