Talwara (Reasi-Jammu), March 25 (Scoop News) – J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on Thursday asked passing out cadets to always uphold the honour of their uniform and fight with courage and determination against the forces bent upon to spread evil and disturb the peace and tranquility in the society. “You have to pass many tests of the time in coming days”, he said and asked them to be determined to bring laurels to the state.
Addressing the passing out function of police recruits at Police Training School here, Omar advised them to render their service in the best professional temperament safeguarding the interests of common man and the society.
The Chief Minister reminded the new recruits of the oath they have taken after completing the training and asked them to make public service benchmark of their duty. “You have to withstand all pulls and pressures and rendered honest, sincere, dedicated and patriotic service to the society and the state”, he added and told them that many will come to lure them by various means to deviate from service but they should remember the oath they have taken and remain firm to the commitment for justice.
The Chief Minister said that government has taken various measures to improve the conditions of police personnel and strengthen the Department in all spheres. He said more steps are afoot in this direction adding that the requests of police personnel for better service conditions are under active consideration of the government.
Omar lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the process of restoration of peace adding that JK Police has worked under challenging circumstances and earned name in the Country for its outstanding performance.
. Omar said that working with other forces in tandem the Jammu and Kashmir Police has exhibited their professional mettle in the task of maintenance of law and order and combating militancy.
The Chief Minister referred to the recent performance of J&K Police in dealing with militancy at Lal Chowk, Srinagar and Sopore ensuring safety of civilians in the combat operation and said that this amply vindicates that J&K Police is efficient and IInd to non in combat tactics. “Your have also rendered stupendous service in protecting the human rights and upholding the Government’s commitment to zero tolerance against HR violation”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda gave an account of the measures Police Department is taking to modernize its force and upgrade the infrastructure. He said besides latest training necessary equipment and weaponry is being provided to the police personnel to make them professionally fit and properly armed.
The DGP assured the Chief Minister that J&K Police will continue to render meritorious and professions service and come up to the occasion whenever need arises. He said the process of training and modernization will continue to further strengthen the force and face any challenge.
Khoda further said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is having six Training Institutions in the State at Kathua, Manigam, Vijaypur, Talwara, Sheeri and Lathpora, besides a Police Academy at Udhampur. During the year 2009, as many as 7208 officers and jawans of various ranks were imparted training in these institutions.
He said that 943 cadets passed out from the Training School successfully completing the basic police training. Of these, 24 persons are post graduates and 81 graduates.
The Principal of Police Training Centre, Talwara Ashiq Hussain Bukhari gave oath to the recruits and threw light on the activities of the Institution.
Among others, the function was attended ADG (CID), K. Rajendra Kumar, Inspectors General of Police, Dr. Ram Lubahya, Dilbagh Singh, A.K.Gupta, Dr. B. Srinivas and Ravinder Kotwal, Director SSG, Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Gulzar Singh Salathia, T. Punchok and other police and army officers.
