J&K CM chairs Unified Command Meeting,4 killed,67 injured in Kashmir violance

           Srinagar, August 02 (Scoop News) – J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired the Unified Command meeting in Srinagar this evening after returning from New Delhi where he had gone in the morning. He took stock of prevailing law and order situation in the valley and also reviewed the measures in place to handle the situation and restore normalcy.

            The meeting was attended by the top brass of Army, security forces, J&K Police, IB and civil administration.

Meanwhile four persons were killed and 67 persons including 39 policeman were injured today in  Kashmir violence. Kashmir Valley remained under curfew for the third day today. According to Police infuriated mobs broke the curfew restrictions at various places in Kakapora Pulwama, Budgam, Anantnag, Kulgam and Kupwara destroying police and public properties.

Police said that huge mob attacked CMO office, Horticulture office and Tehsil Office in Budgam and set them on fire. The mob also attacked the Railway Station Budgam and set a shed on fire. The Railway Station also suffered damages. The mob of about 1000 miscreants pelted stones on the building of Police Station Budgam. Another mob pelted stones at Galwanpora, Hyderpora. An unruly mob set ablaze a boogie of a train at Ompura.

            They said that Stone pelting incidents were also reported from Kralpora Kupwara, Chursoo Awantipora and Kakpora Pulwama. Mob blocked National Highway at Sangam Anantnag and Pampore.  In Pulwama violent rioting mobs set ablaze police station Rajpora and Police Post Kakapora. In Kralpora Kupwara, mob entered police camp and snatched four rifles and ransacked the Kralpora Police post. One person namely Arshid Ahmed Bhat s/o Mohammad Abdullah r/o Reshipora, Pulwama died in a stampede when an unruly mob were chased away at Sangam Anantnag. In another incident in Kulgam police post Qaimoh was also set ablaze by miscreants.

Police and the Security Forces tried to disperse the mobs by using tear smoke and lathi charge and other means of chasing the stone-pelters. However, when the stone-pelters did not relent and continued to indulge themselves in arson and damage to public property at Budgam, Kralpora Kupwara, Sangam Anantnag and at Chawalgam Kulgam, security forces had to fire in which four persons lost their lives. 67 persons got injured in these incidents which include nine civilians, 39 policeman including a SDPO and 28 CRPF jawan.
