New Delhi/Jammu, January 19 (Scoop News) –
In an hour long meeting the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Home Minister reviewed the general law and order situation and took stock of the measures in place for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the State.
The two leaders also discussed issues pertaining to the forces cut and gradual removal of AFSPA with the restoration of peace and political stability in certain areas.
The challenges ahead on law and order front and matters emerging out of political developments and programmes issued by various mainstream and separatist parties were also discussed in detail.
They also reviewed the progress of dialogue between Interlocutors and various sections of the society. The recommendations surfacing out of such discussions for peace and restoration of normalcy in the State were also discussed in the meeting.
While appreciating pro-active political endeavours put in place by the Union Government for addressing political issues in an amicable and befitting atmosphere, the Chief Minister laid stress on introducing additional confidence building measures on various fronts including gradual reduction of troops and easing of provisions of AFSPA in the areas where situation is peaceful.
“Such measures were all the more important to make political atmosphere more palatable for expanding the orbit of dialogue and interaction in the pursuit of permanent peace and all round development of the State”, Omar Abdullah emphasized and appreciated the positivity and up to the mark response shown by the Union Home Minister to help Jammu and Kashmir Government in addressing various issues relating to the law and order situation and restoring normalcy in the State.
The Union Home Minister assured the Chief Minister of full assistance and cooperation from the Union Home Ministry for political stability and restoration of peace in the State.
