JK CM for showcasing adventure tourism

 PAHALGAM/Srinagar, October 9 (Scoop News) –   Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has highlighted the potential of adventure and sports tourism of Jammu and Kashmir describing the State as unique and interesting destination for adventure lovers, golfers, trekkers, mountaineers, rafters, skiers, etc.

            Giving away prizes at the concluding ceremony of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Primal Golf Cup here last evening, the Chief Minister said that a golf circuit has been created in Jammu and Kashmir to provide opportunity to the golfers to play in different conditions at world class golf courses.

            The Chief Minister said that with the development of 18-hole golf course at Leh the golfers can play at Jammu, Srinagar, Gulamarg, Pahalgam and Leh enjoying different geographical conditions and natural beauty.

            Omar Abdullah asked the Tourism Department and other concerned agencies to showcase this potential of the State and rope in golfers and adventure sports loving persons in the State in various seasons from all over the world.

            The Chief Minister said that the organizing of such tournaments will give boost to the tourism and enhance opportunities of wide-ranging economic activities for locals especially the youth.

            The tournament organized by the J&K Tourism Department was participated by the renowned golfers of the country and abroad. Ambassadors from eight countries including Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan also participated in the J&K Tourism Primal Golf Cup. The Judges of Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, First Secretary of French Embassy and former Cricket Captain of Team India Kapil Dev were among 103 renowned golfers which participated in the tournament. Kapil Dev lifted the trophy.

            The Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani and Director Tourism Kashmir, Farooq Shah were present on the occasion.
