Jammu,March 30 (Scoop News) – Hailing from a remote village of Thall in Tehsil Billawar of Kathua District, Suraj Singh despite hundred percent vision disability, qualified the degree of Bachelor of Law. He has been enrolled an Advocate by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir giving him permission to practice in the High Court and Sub-ordinate Courts in the State.
For the want of necessary equipments like Braille system, Computer, Camera Scanner, etc. to overcome his vision disability while preparing briefs and consulting law books, he was not in a position to practice smoothly.
This aspect was brought to the notice of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah by the General Secretary, National Federation of the Blind, Ram Dass Dubey requesting for financial support to the said Advocate so that he could procure the necessary equipment.
In order to augment the spirit of the Advocate, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah granted an amount of Rs. 1, 21, 500 (cost of the equipment) to the Advocate for purchase of the Braille system and other required equipment. The Cheque for the amount has been handed over to the said Advocate.
The Chief Minister recently granted over Rs. 32 lakhs to 29 critically ill patients for the treatment in various hospitals under Medical Aid Trust. He has also granted Rs. 20.36 lakhs to the patients under Cancer Treatment Fund for Poor.
