JK CM, others condemns attack on Sagar, tributes to Jawan

 Jammu, December 12 (Scoop News) –  J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has condemned the attack on the security of Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar on Sunday evening.

            Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the loss of life of a security person and injury to others. He said that there are no takers of violence and bloodshed. “These are the activities condemned by one and all”, he added.

The Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone has strongly condemned the attack on the residence of Minister for Rural Development, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs,  Ali Mohammad Sagar last night at Nawab Bazar, Srinagar.

            Terming the attack as a cowardice act, he reiterated that such acts will not deter the resolve of the peace loving people of the state who strongly aspire for development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

 Lone also expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the   precious loss in the death of PSO, Gulzar Ahmad. He expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family. 

MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami has condemned the assassination attempt on Minister for Rural Development Mr Ali Mohammad Sagar, terming it a dastardly and inhuman act by elements inimical to peace and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior congress leader and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today condemned attack of militants on the life of Law Minister J&K Ali Mohammad Sagar and described it as the cowardness of these forces who are aimlessly bent upon killing of innocent people.  Vakil said such attacks will not deter patriots from telling the truth that nothing can be achieved by gun, only dialogue is a way to resolve all isuues. He expressed grief over the death of one PSO of Law Minister and demanded probe in the incident.

It may be mentioned that some militants late sunday evening attacked cavalcade of Rural Development,Parliamentary and Law Affairs Minister Ali Mohd Sagar  in Srinagar and injured  his four security guards and one civilian.

One of the PSO’s  of the cabinet minister  later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Police said the cabinet minister had a narrow escape.

According to official sources  the unidentified gunmen fired upon Sagar’s cavalcade at Zaldagar area of downtown Srinagar. Sagar was on way to attend the marriage ceremony of his brother’s daughter.

The police officials later identified the deceased PSO as Gulzar Ahmed. A civilian Ali Mohammad was also injured in the attack.

According to a agencies Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen on Monday claimed responsibility for attack on Rural Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ali Muhammad Sagar on Sunday in Srinagar. 
The outfit said that their group Al Jabbar was responsible for the attacks, saying Sagar was their target. 

               Meanwhile Minister of State for Home,  Nasir Aslam Wani, took a high-level security meeting here today to discuss and review the overall law and order situation in the State.

Principal Secretary, Home,  B. R. Sharma, Director General of Police,  Kuldeep Khoda, ADG Security,  Ram Lubaya, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir,  Asgar Samoon, IG Kashmir,  S. M. Sahai, IG CID, Dr. B. Srinivas, IG CRPF,  Ravi Prakash Maharda, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar,  Mehraj Kakroo, SSP Srinagar,  Ashiq Bukhari, SSP Security, Kashmir,  Rafiq-ul-Hassan besides several other senior police officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Minister was briefed about the overall security scenario in the State. He asked the civil and police administration to maintain high vigil so that peace and tranquility is maintained in the region.    

Earlier,  Nasir Aslam laid floral wreaths at District Police Lines over the mortal remains of the deceased PSO,  Gulzar Ahmad, who died in yesterday’s attack on the cavalcade of Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Institutions, Justice, Law & Parliamentary affairs,  Ali Mohammad Sagar. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.    

The wreaths were also laid by Minister for RDD,  Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Medical & Technical Education,  R. S. Chib, Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf,  Aijaz Ahmad Khan, DGP, Kuldeep Khoda and other senior police and civil officers.

Later, the Minister visited SKIMS, Soura and Bone & Joint Hospital at Burzalla to enquire about the health of the other two injured,  Mohammad Yaqoob and  Feroz Ahmad. He asked the Health Department to extend the best possible medical facilities to the injured to facilitate their speedy recovery.
