Srinagar,July 11 (Scoop News) -: Three persons including a 14 year old student died when an ill-fated school excursion bus meet with an accident in Tangmarg.
A school excursion Bus bearing registration Number Jk14-6144 of Iqra Education Institute, Khumriyal Lolab, District Kupwara, that was carrying students and staff of the school for a picnic met with an accident, near Nambal Nard, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tangmarg.
All the injured have been shifted to Hospital for treatment. Among the injured three persons, Jahangir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Khaliq Dar age 25 years (teacher) , Owais Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmad Wani resident of Khumriyal age 14 years( Student) and Muhammad Akhter Ganie son of Muhammad Akbar resident of Kalaroos, Kupwara driver of the bus breathed their last in the Hospital. Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has expressed deep grief over the sad demise of children in a road accident on Tangmarg-Gulmarg road in Baramulla district of the Valley.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said that he has been deeply saddened to hear about the loss of children in the road accident. He conveyed his heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family and showed his solidarity with them at this movement of grief and sorrow.
Minister for Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for Rural Development Department, Ali Muhammad Sagar Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhullah and Advisor to Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul have expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of 3 persons including 1 student died in a road accident at Baba Reshi Gulmarg road today.
In their condolence messages, Ministers expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic road accident which occurred on Wednesday to a school excursion bus of Iqra Public Institute of Khomrayal, Lolab on Baba Reshi Road.
In the said bus accident 3 persons including 1 students, one teacher and driver of the bus died, and about 39 students and teachers received injures, which were shifted to various hospitals of the valley which include JVC, SKIMS, and SMHS Hospitals in Srinagar and SDH Tangmarg for treatment.
In his condolence message, Mir expressed his heart felt sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also instructed concerned hospital authorities for providing specialized treatment facilities to the injured ones for their early recovery.
Minister of State for Home, Tourism and Culture Nasir Asalm Wani immediately after hearing school excursion bus accident at Baba Reshi Gulmarg Road, visited SMHS and other Hospitals where the injured students were shifted for treatment to enquire their welfare.
The Minister went round each ward where injured students kept for treatment, enquired their welfare. He instructed hospital authorities to ensure all possible medicare facilities to the injured students for their early recovery.
Meanwhile, Government has announced Rs. 1 lakh each to next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 25 thousand each injured out of Chief Ministers relief fund.
Meanwhile, the Minister expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the deceased families. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
Director School Education(DSE), Shafi Rather today ordered Chief Education Officer Kupwara to withdraw registration of Iqra Public School Khumriyal, Lolab for taking school children for picnic, thus defying Government order issued earlier for not proceeding on an outing without permission of the education department.
Pertinently, a bus carrying students of Iqra School met with tragic accident today near Baba Reshi causing death to a teacher and a student.
CEO, Baramulla and Kupwara and other concerned officers rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and helped in relief operation.
Meanwhile, Director School Education has asked all the heads of the government/private institutions of Kashmir valley to take utmost care about the safety of students during such outings. He said, "The delinquent heads of the institutions shall be dealt with severely". He also expressed shock over the incident and paid heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families.

The Minister also called upon traffic authorities to keep close vigil and frequent checking of passenger buses especially plying on sensitive and hilly roads for avoiding such incidents.
Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Patron and President have expressed grief over the tragic road accident at Babareshi Gulmarg road today in which three children were killed and about thirty were injured. The bus which met an accident was carrying school children from Iqra Educational Institute Kupwara to gulmarg for picnic.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives the two leaders conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in this tragic accident.
The two leaders urged for immediate relief and free medical facilities to the injured and asked the administration to take special measures to have a check on speedy vehicles particularly those carrying school children.
Among other leaders who expressed their shock and grief over the accident include Senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Molvi Iftikhar Ansari, General Secretary Mohd Dilawar Mir, Mohd Sartaj Madni MLA, Tariq Hameed Karra, Ab Haq Khan MLA, Naeem Akhtar, Mohd Altaf Bukhari, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Mohd Ashraf Mir, A H Kosheen and others.
