JK CM’s statement on Central University provoking: BJP

Jammu, March 16 (Scoop News) –BJP has strongly resented Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that the functioning of Central University in Jammu was delayed due to socalled demand for a Dogra vice-Chancellor. BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas said that as such nobody had demanded that the VC of Central University had to be only a Dogra and by making such divisive statements Omar Abdullah was vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu.

Manhas in statement said that if Omar Abdullah was really sincere about the aspirations of the people of Jammu, he should have first attended to the more urgent issues including implementation of 73rd & 74th amendment before holding Panchayat elections, delimitation of Assembly constituencies, issue of refugees, unemployment among technocrats, regional discrimination and grievances of  low paid employees.

Omar Abdullah has made it a habit to make provocative statement’s from time to time which spoil the atmosphere in Jammu, said Manhas and recalled that in 2008 also it was Omar Abdullah who had made the controversial statement “Ek Inch Zameen Nahin Denge” which added fire to Amarnath land agitation. Again, during assembly election, Omar had made derogatory remarks about Maharaja Hari Singh which infuriated the people of Jammu. Manhas made a special mention of Omar’s highly objectional statement regarding accession of J&K with Indian Union and said that by saying so he had violated the constitution under which he had taken the oath.

Manhas reiterated that BJP stood for strengthening of nationalist forces and abrogation of Article-370. He warned Omar Abdullah against making statements which divide the people on communal lines and that though the NC always accused BJP of playing divisive politics, it was actually the National Conference leadership which always created disturbance by making communal utterances in Jammu and by appeasing separatist in Kashmir valley.
