JK DGP advises youth to avail opportunity

 

           Jammu, January 22 (Scoop News) –   The Director General of Police (DGP)  Kuldeep Khoda has said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing youth promotional sports camps in the state under its Civic Action Programme. The camps are aiming to inspire the youth towards sports and channelize their talent.

             Khoda was speaking at the concluding function of “Week-long Youth

Promotional Sports Winter Camp” at Gulshan Ground here this morning, which was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police and was declared open on January16, 2012 at Jammu. 250 students from various districts of the state participated in the weeklong camp.

            On the occasion, the Director General of Police (DGP),  Kuldeep Khoda stressed upon the youth to utilize the opportunity and excel in different sports activities being organized by JKP at state and national level. He said that sports provide a greater career prospect in the present times besides building mental and physical capabilities. Sports arena has remained one of the thrust areas of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the organization has been carrying out various activities indifferent parts of the state to cultivate sports talent among the youth, he said.

            The DGP said that sports help in channeling the talent and energy of the

youth and JKP has been playing a vital role in the promotion of sports culture in the state. The Organization, besides augmenting basic facilities for the youth, has been providing sports kits and free coaching to the talented youth to make them able and excel in the national level tournaments, said the DGP.

             Khoda said that the camp provided an opportunity to the participants who represent different regions of the state, to interact and know about their culture. He said that the camp also flourished universal brotherhood and national integrity among the youth to work together for the betterment of the society. He disclosed that such camp would also be organized in the valley during summer months.

            Giving the details, the Additional Director General of Police Armed/Law & Order,  K. Rajendra Kumar said that the sports camp provided an opportunity to the participants to interact with each other, besides getting skills of sports from qualified coaches from National Institute of Sports. Various sports activities were included in the camp viz. football, volleyball, handball, basketball, shooting, athletics, boxing, wushu, wrestling and kabadi. During the weeklong camp the children were provided free boarding lodging and refreshment. Besides sports activities the participants were taught the basic skills of mountaineering, trekking, tent pitching, repelling, rock climbing and swimming. During the camp they were taken to heritage spots like Bahu Fort, Amar Mahal, Manda Sanctuary, Mubarak Mandi, Suchetgarh Border, Art and cultural Academy and health resort Mansar where they also had an interaction with the police officers and briefed about the working of police. The participants had been chosen from various districts across the state including the poor pockets and far flung areas, said the ADGP. He disclosed that in all 250 children participated in the camp, out of which 10 each are

from district Poonch, Reasi, Doda, Ramban and Rajouri, 50 from district Jammu and 150 from different districts of valley.

            Among others, the function was attended by Additional Directors General of Police, Dr. Ram Lubhaya, Dr. S. P. Vaid and Smt. D. R. Doley, Inspectors General of Police,  Dilbag Singh and  Gulzar Singh Slathia, Deputy Inspectors General of Police,  K. K. Saini,  Alok Puri,  A. Q. Manhas,  P. R. Manhas,  Johnney William and  J. P. Singh, Senior Retired Police Officers, President, J&K Football Association,  Zameer Thakur, Secretary, Sports Council,  Kiran Wattal, SSPs,  Prabath Singh,Vijay Kumar and  Nissar Ahmed, All Jammu based Commandants of Armed/ IRP battalions and other senior police officers.
