Srinagar,August 04(Scoop News) – In order to discuss the arrangements for Independence Day Celebrations at different places in the Valley, a high level meeting of police officers was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad and was attended by senior police officers including Range Deputy Inspectors General of Police and District Superintendents of Police of the Valley.
In the meeting threadbare discussions were held with regard to deployment of police personnel and maintenance of law and order. The meeting was told that sufficient man power would be deployed for the security of the venues of ID celebrations and maintenance of law and order there. In addition, contingents from different wings would participate in the celebrations for which the exercise has already been started.
During the meeting, Prasad emphasised upon the officers present in the meeting to maintain synergy among various agencies and keep available required man power for the celebrations without affecting the law and order duties. He said that taking the benefit of previous experiences, arrangements should be made to ensure peaceful celebrations. Stressing upon the participants to maintain vigil, he said that the dormant elements could try to foment trouble and to disrupt the peace, so their activities should be kept under surveillance.
Earlier, the Additional Directors General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar and Dr. Ram Lubhaya apprised the meeting about the arrangements with regard to the State Level function being held at Bakshi Stadium. It was told that effective measures have been taken for the security and deployment of man power. ADGP SDRF, Smt. D. R. Doley, also apprised the meeting about the arrangements made by State Disaster Response Force.
The Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone), S. M. Sahai gave a briefing to the meeting about the Independence Day preparedness. He said that all components have been accelerated throughout the Valley to conduct the celebrations. High vigil is being maintained to curb trouble mongers and the activities of such elements would be curtailed.
All District Superintendents of Police of the Valley who took part in the deliberations also gave their suggestions for the smooth conduct of the celebrations. They also briefed about the arrangements made in their respective areas to celebrate Independence Day. They told the meeting that contingents from different forces, school children and cultural groups would participate in the celebrations at district and tehsil headquarters.
The DGP congratulated the officers for making efficient security arrangements for the Amar Nath Yatra and maintaining law and order. He said that due to the strenuous efforts, close coordination with other agencies and people’s cooperation the Yatra concluded safely.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters), S. P. Vaid, IsGP, V. K. Singh, Owais Ahmed, Dr. B. Srinivas, A. K. Choudhary and S. Sulaiman Salaria, DIsGP, S. S. Khandare and N. D.Wani.
