Mir said that the State has a huge potential to produce high yielding quality disease free cocoon seeds, as feasible moderate temperature is available to us for the same and stressed upon the authorities to work with dedication round the clock to achieve the desired target. He said that the dedication among the employees is paramount for the self-sufficiency and maintained it would help the entrepreneurs to provide maximum employment opportunities for job seekers.
The Minister said that the government is committed to provide the latest facilities to the seed stations to cater the need for emerging the J&K as a potential cocoon seed production state. He said, he has already directed the Director Sericulture to send a comprehensive proposal for the incentives to the employees working in the station.
Referring for a triple Cocoon crop pattern in the sector, the Minister said that the self-sufficiency in quality seeds would help cocoon rearers to adopt the system, besides providing adequate mulberry leafs to the rearers for the same. He said for which we have to activate our human resource from today to reach out the target across the valley. He said that we have already succeeded in double cropping of cocoons in
“Times is ours, we must take initiative for best use of the same to retain the past glory of the sector for which Jammu and Kashmir was known around the world”, he asserted. He said that the vigorous campaign launched by the government during last one and a half year to improve the quality of cocoons and its production has shown the desired results across the state by way of increasing the number of cocoons rearers. He said that lot has to be done still in improving the quality of cocoons seeds, production of quality of cocoon and yielding of high production to make it full time activity for the cocoon rearers.
The Minister said that besides giving thrust on quality and production, “we have to also take other measures to provide basic and other technical facilities for cocoon rearers at their doorsteps to involve more and more people in this sector and it has huge potential to provide jobs”. He said that we have to adopt people friendly system so that the common growers be benefitted.
