J&K Government announces 28 State Awards 2010 for bravery, literature, arts,Journalism,crafts

         Jammu,January 25 (Scoop News) – The Jammu and Kashmir Government today announced the State Awards on the Republic Day 2010 for bravery, literature, performing arts, arts and crafts, social service, meritorious public service, outstanding sports persons and media persons, exemplary industrial entrepreneurship and excellence in media. The awards carry medals, citations and cash awards.

            As per an official communiqué, the following is the list of awardees in different spheres:

Bravery:-Ms Rukhsana Kosser and  Ajaz Ahmed. (Cash award of Rs 51,000 a medal and a citation each).

            Achievements in the field of Literature:-Prof Rehman Rahi, Kashmiri poet and writer, Prof Sewa Singh, Punjabi writer and Prof Veena Gupta (Dogri writer). (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a shawl worth Rs 10,000 and a citation each.

            Awards for performing Arts:-Mtr. Shameem Azad, (Singer), s. Kailash Mehra (Singer),  Pradhuman Singh Jindrahia (Dogri folk artist) and Ustad Ghulam Mohammad Saznawaz (Sufiana Ustad).(Cash award of Rs 51,000 a medal and a citation each).

            Award for Excellence in Arts and Crafts:-Mohammad Shariq Farooqui, Director, Craft Development Institute, Srinagar (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation).

            Award for Social Service:-Viklang Chhatra Trust, Akhnoor (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)

            Awards for meritorious Public Service :-B.R. Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Power Development Department;  Basharat Ahmad Dhar, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, General Administration Department;  Nisar Ahmad Shah, Junior Engineer, Rajpora Lift Irrigation Scheme, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and  Ishtaq Ahmad Khan, Naib Tehsildar (Settlement), Revenue Department. (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)

            Awards for outstanding Sports Persons:-Chhering Angchok, Nobra, Leh (Mountaineering) and Ms. Bilquis Mir (Kayaking and Canoeing). (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)

            Awards for Outstanding Media Persons:-Late  Sonaullah Bhat (Posthumously) Editor-in-Chief Urdu Daily :Aftab”; Late Sofi Ghulam Mohammad(Posthumously) Editor-in-Chief Urdu Daily “ Srinagar Times”;  Arun Joshi (Journalist Hindustan Times); Ms Nidhi Razdan, (Journalist, NDTV), Ms. Marukh Inayat, (Journalist, Times News),  Iftikhar Geelani, (Journalist, Kashmir Times) and  Maqsood Ahmad, Broadcast Journalist, Radio Kashmir (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)

            Awards for exemplary Industrial Entrepreneurship:- Taranveer Singh Gujral, M/S T. V. Super Filter Industries, Jammu, (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)

            Award for excellence in Media:-Sheherbeen (Radio Kashmir, Srinagar) (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)
