Pulwama/Srinagar, April 26 (Scoop News) – J&K Government is committed to empower Panchyats to ensure planning and development at grass root level across the state and decentralisation of powers will take off soon when elections of 30,000 Panchs are completed.
This was stated by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats and senior leader of National Conference, Ali Mohammad Sagar while addressing a one day party convention at Pulwama in South Kashmir on Tuesday.
Sagar said the Panchayat elections were promised to the people by the coalition government led by Omar Abdullah adding that some political leaders are misleading the people on one pretext or the other but people are alive of their designs.
He said the Panchayats will positively change the socio-economic scenario of the ruralites as they themselves will be responsible to monitor development and other flagship programmes like MG NREGA etc and this process will also ensure transparency and accountability of the implementing agencies of these flagship schemes framed for overall development and welfare of the people living in three regions of the state.
Sagar asked the people to further strengthen the National Conference which has contributed a lot for the welfare of the peple irrespective of caste, creed or region. He said this party has always sacrificed for maintaining and strengthening the secular and democratic fabrics in the three regions of the state. He appealed the people to fully strengthen the hands of the government and contribute in maintaining the peace which is imperative for the development of the state.
