Jammu,March 29 (Scoop News) -J&K Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah on Monday called for organizing comprehensive employment fairs involving private sector to make these more productive.

“I am looking forward to see these fairs employment generating and productive besides as awareness camps”, he said and added that participation of private sector in such events will expand their orbit and help youth to understand the requirements in private job market.
“While Government will continue to create job opportunities for educated youth in Government sector, we are exploring all other possibilities in this regard”, he said maintaining that the absorption of young people in private sector and generation of independent livelihood offer greater potential.
The Chief Minister asked the Employment Department to rope in industrialists and private investors in such Fairs so that they can make on spot talent hunt and expand their activities accordingly in the State. “This would serve dual purpose of on spot recruitment by industrialist as well as education to the youth about the requirement in private job market.
Omar advised the youth to visit such fairs and get full information of the schemes and avenues available to them adding that Government would facilitate them both financially as well as technically. He asked them to take best advantage of SKEWPY and open new vistas in job market for themselves and others.
The Chief Minister advised the Employment Department to make Employment Fairs a regular feature expanding their orbit and making these more effective, educative and productive so that the youth visiting such Fairs are convinced to adopt the livelihood schemes available in various sectors of horticulture, floriculture, bee-keeping, animal and sheep husbandry and allied sectors. “You should guide, educate and facilitate them in this regard”, he told the concerned departments adding that the number of youth visiting such Fairs is not as important as the number which is motivated and take to initiated self-employment generating schemes.
Addressing the function, the Minister for Higher Education and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik said that 19 such District Employment fairs have been held so far in the State while two more are scheduled in Kargil and Leh districts during the month of April, 2010. Malik said that 3.10 lakh youth have visited these melas of which, 60,000 have registered themselves. He said more than 26 departments associated with self-employment have also participated in such Fairs.
Malik said that Employment Department is upgrading its infrastructure in all the 22 districts focusing on counseling through the District Employment and Counseling Centres.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected all the 60 stalls installed in the Fair by various agencies to provide basic education to the youth about venturing upon employment generating schemes and taking advantage of facilities being provided by the Government in this respect. All the departments had kept necessary literature available on their stalls for visitors. The Fair will continue for 5 days.
