Srinagar, September 26 (Scoop News)-President of India, Pranab Mukharjee today arrived Srinagar on three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Governor, N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad,Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Members of the State Council of Ministers, top brass officers of civil, police and army received the President at the Airport.
This is his maiden visit to Kashmir since he took over as head of state in July.
The President will attend a banquet hosted by Governor N.N. Vohra on Wednesday.
On Thursday, he will attend the 18th annual convocation of University of Kashmir, review the Dal Lake Conservation Project and interact with a group of intellectuals.
Meanwhile N. N. Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir, called on Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, here this evening and briefed him about various aspects of the growth and development of the State. He also briefed Rashtrapatiji regarding the overall security situation.
The Governor, who has been recently appointed by the President as Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, briefly informed Mukherjee about the advancement of Higher Education in the State.
The Governor welcomed the President on behalf of the Government and the people of the State and thanked him for visiting J&K and for honouring the University of Kashmir by addressing its 18th Convocation.
