Jammu, December 24, (Scoop News)- N. N. Vohra, Governor, today extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
In a message, the Governor said that the teachings of Jesus Christ, the apostle of peace, compassion and brotherhood, have guided human beings towards righteousness. He observed that the message of Lord Christ is perhaps more relevant today than ever before, when the world is ridden with hate, greed, intolerance and violence.
The Governor expressed sincere hope that this auspicious occasion would help in further strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, secularism and high traditions of pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries.
The Governor wished the people a Happy Christmas and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has extended Christmas greetings to people wishing them well being and prosperity.
In his greetings message on Christmas, the Chief Minister said that Hazrat Eisa Masseh (AS) preached love, brotherhood, peace, tolerance and selfless service to mankind. “The message of Hazrat Eisa (AS) is as relevant today as it has been always”, Omar added and prayed for peace and development of the State and the Country.
‘Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today greeted the people on Christmas and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the State.
He expressed sincere hope that this auspicious occasion would usher the strengthening of communal bonds, brotherhood and amity.
The State Council of Ministers have extended warm greetings to people of the State, particularly to Christian brethren on the auspicious occasion of Christmas and wished them well-being and prosperity.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Revenue Aijaz Ahmad Khan; Minister for Cooperative Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma; Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan; Minister of State for Science and Technology Feroz Ahmad Khan; Minister of State for Information and Technical Education Viqar Rasool Wani; Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo and Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry Nazir Ahmad Gurezi have also extended their greetings to the Christian brethren on the eve of Christmas.
The Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul has extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the Christmas.
In his message, Speaker wished people, particularly members of Christen community, a happy and prosperous Christmas with nears and dears. He also hoped that the auspicious day would prove a harbinger of peace and prosperity for the state.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly Sartaj Madni and Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council (LC), Javed Rana have also extended their greetings to the Christian brethren of the State wishing them prosperity and happiness in life.
Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra has greeted people, particularly members of christen community, on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
In his message, the Chairman said that every religion teaches brotherhood, amity, sympathy, forgiveness and tolerance. He said Jammu and Kashmir State is a splendid symbol of composite culture where people have religious freedom and respect the religious ethos of follow citizens.
“Let us all pray that the New Year will bring in abundance joy, peace and prosperity in the world as well as to our State”, Malhotra hoped.
Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and president of the party Mehbooba Mufti greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Christmas. In a greeting message PDP leaders said, “Christmas is a celebration of the spirit of brotherhood and an opportunity to spread joy and share happiness. The festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ underlines the need to follow the ideals of sacrifice, service, redemption and love and compassion. May the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness to all”. “On the occasion of Christmas, we extend my greetings to all my fellow citizens”, they said.
