Jammu, April 22 -– The Governor, N. N. Vohra, in his capacity as Chairman, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, today constituted a 13-member Shri Amarnathji Yatra Advisory Committee-2009.
S. L. Bhat, IAS, will be the Chairman of the Committee, while the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, B. B. Vyas, shall be its Member-Secretary.
The Committee has been constituted pursuant to the decision taken at the 16th meeting of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board held in
The Committee will advise the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board on logistical and other arrangements required for the smooth conduct of the Yatra 2009.
The Committee will also assist the Environmental Sub-Committee of the Board, chaired by Dr. Sunita Narain, in the formulation and implementation of the “Environment Protection Plan” for the Yatra 2009.
The Committee will meet at least twice in the year, before the commencement and after the completion of the Yatra.

Srinavasan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir; Mr. Lal Chand, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir State Pollution Control Board; Abdul Hamid Wani, Labour Commissioner, J&K; Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag;. Abdul Majid Khanday, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal; Farooq Ahmed Shah, Director Tourism, Kashmir; Mr. S. M. Sahni, Director Tourism, Jammu; Mr. Abdul Rashid Parrey, Chief Executive Officer, Pahalgam Development Authority; and. Javed Bakshi, Chief Executive Officer, Sonamarg Development Authority.
