Jammu, April 22 (Scoop News) – N. N. Vohra, Governor, has emphasized the crucial importance of timely conservation and the promotion of the traditional folk art forms and the rich cultural heritage of the State.
The Governor, as Chief Guest, was speaking after inaugurating a mega cultural show, “Rangla Jammu”, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department in collaboration with Natrang Jammu at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium,
Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mubarak Gul, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for Tourism and Home, Prof. M. P. S. Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Atal Dulloo, Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism, Balwant Thakur, Director, Natrang and a large number of senior officers were among those present on the occasion.
The Governor observed that folk art and culture in all its forms is an important aspect of any civilization, adding that all the required measures need to be taken for the aesthetic revival and effective showcasing of this invaluable heritage before it gets eroded and obliterated with the passage of time. He said that J&K is blessed with a glorious composite cultural heritage which must be preserved and promoted.

Earlier, on arrival at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, the Governor and the First Lady were received by Jora, Wani, Prof. Ishar, Thakur, senior officers and a large number of folk artists attired in their colourful costumes.
Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Tourism and Culture, speaking on the occasion, thanked the Governor for inaugurating “Rangla Jammu”. He said that such programmes are being organized by the Tourism Department and the
Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for Tourism and Home, said that in the past several months many initiatives had been taken by the Department for the promotion of cultural activities in the State.
Senior officers, media persons, prominent citizens and a large number of people were present at the inaugural function.
