JK Governor inaugurates Int’l Conference on Global Cultural

Jammu, March 01 (Scoop News) –  The Governor of J&K State and Chancellor University of Jammu .N.N.Vohra said that the  International conference on various Cultural routes of world had particular importance and significance to the J&K State because this State has the many historical reasons.

.N.N.Vohra who was the Chief Guest on the inaugural ceremony, today inaugurated 3-day long International Conference on Global Cultural Routes: Tourism and Socio-Economic Viability at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu.

Minister of State for Home, Housing and Urban Development Nasir Aslam wani was the guest of honor on the occasion and Prof. M.P. Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. The International Conference is being organized by the Centre for Studies in Museology, University of Jammu in association with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India,Department of Tourism, Govt. of India, Dept. of Tourism & Culture Govt. of J&K and General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu.

The International Conference is being organized by the Centre for Studies in Museology, University of Jammu in association with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India,Department of Tourism, Govt. of India, Dept. of Tourism & Culture Govt. of J&K and General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu.

The Governor said that today we have varied mediums of communication, not only the books but entire spectrum of technology, like Cell phones, Telephone, Wireless, E-mails, Aero-planes etc but 200 years ago & more there was no such technology ,the travel was on foot, horse back, elephant back  and these heritage cultural routes had contributed  a lot in the transference of knowledge, Trade and pilgrimage. He also said that if we go back to the history of J&K State the transference of Buddhism and Buddhist in the State from china and trade of pilgrimage from china to India has the great relevance in this context.

Mr. Vohra also said that the Stupa’s excavated at Akhnoor indicates the connectivity of J&K State to the Europe in the 10th century. The Governor further added that I hope this international conference hosted by the Centre for Studies in Museology, University of Jammu will identify the practical approaches which would contribute in preserving heritage culture, exploring the Cultural tourism, peace and prosperity at global level.

Minister of State for Home, Housing and Urban Development Nasir Aslam wani his address said that our country is rich in cultural heritage and many heritage places has been put on global the map. Mr. Wani said that to develop and preserve these heritage routes in the state of Jammu of Kashmir is the priority of our State Govt. While lauding the efforts of the University of Jammu, especially Centre for Studies in Museology for the organizing this conference Mr. Wani said that this conference will really act as a booster in promotion of the heritage tourism of state as well as in the country.

Prof. M.P.Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu in his presidential address said that it’s a matter of great honor and pride for the University of Jammu that galaxies of eminent scholars from across the world are attending this conference being hosted by the varsity. He said that these cultural routes were developed for the trade and pilgrimage. He also said that these cultural routes are important parts of universal heritage and the conference like this will help in promotion of Tourism, and Socio-economic position of the State. Prof. Ishar further said that this 3-day long conference will create awareness amongst the students/ scholars/civil society about significance of the newly recognized cultural / heritage routes as cultural property.

It is worth while to mention herein that the International conference which is being  attended by experts in Cultural routes from all over the world includes Gheorghievici Adda(Romania)    Kristy Altenburg(Australia),Ausncion Martinez Valle (Spain),Eman Assi(Dubai) Alicia Leonor Cahn Behrend(Spain),Dr.Timothy Hubbard (Australia),Michael Romero Taylor(USA), Carlos  Mesen – Rees(Costa Rica), Carman Perez Garcia(Spain),  ,Jyoce Azzam(USA), Juan Rodriguez-Villasante(Spain), Dr. Nguyen Quang Mien(Vietnam),Dr. Nang Chung Trinh(Vietnam) and Prof. Rosa Anna Genovese(Portugal). Prof. Pooman Choudhary, Director, Centre for Studies in Musecology and organizing Secretary of the conference in his well come address gave the profile of the conference in detail. Prof. Poomam Choudhary, said that main objective of this international conference is to bring together the conclusions of the global strategic study striving to improve the recognition within Heritage "of the economic, social, symbolic, philosophical dimensions, constant and countless interactions with the natural environment in all its diversity and to Promote tourism (eco- tourism, cultural tourism, pilgrim tourism) in the state which will influence the socio-economic condition of the people living along these routes.

Professor G.M.Batt Controller of Examination, University of Jammu and Co-organizing secretary of the conference thanked all the guests by presenting formal vote of thanks. A colorful cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.

Prominent among others present on the occasion included Jenab Musood Choudhary, former Vice-Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof. N.K.Tripathi, DSW, University of Jammu, Prof. Neelu Rohemtra, Director The Business School, Deans and Heads of the various Departments of the University, teachers of the University, Officers of the varsity, Officers from the State, Scholars and students.
