Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan-Scoop News
Srinagar, September 02(Scoop News)-N. N. Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir, presented the President’s Police Medals for Gallantry and Distinguished and Meritorious Services to 90 Police officers and men at an impressive Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here today.
They included 36 President’s Police Medals for Gallantry, 5 President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Services and 49 President’s Medals for Meritorious Services. These Medals were awarded to J&K Police personnel during 2011 and 2012. Among the recipients of the Medals were the next of kin of one of the gallant Police Jawans who had laid down his life for safeguarding the security of the nation.
The Governor interacted with the recipients of the Medals and lauded their valour and devotion to the duty.
Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister; Tara Chand, Deputy Chief Minister; Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Finance; Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Medical Education; Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Urban Development; Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control; Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture; Ms. Sakina Itoo, Minister for Social Welfare; Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education; Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution; Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Minister for Tourism; Mir Saifullah, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister of State for Cooperatives; Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi, Minister of State for Animal and Sheep Husbandry; Mrs. Khem Lata Wakhloo, Chairperson, State Social Welfare Board, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, Chief Secretary; Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner, State Vigilance Commission; Ashok Prasad, Director General of Police; Vinod Ranjan, Chairman, State Pollution Control Board; Dr. Arun Kumar, Financial Commissioner, Revenue; B. B. Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister; Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Home; Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Shailendra Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; and other senior Civil and Police officers and family members of the recipients of the Medals.
The senior Police officers present at the Investiture Ceremony included P. L. Gupta, Dr. S. P Vaid, Mrs. D. R. Doley, V. K. Singh, S. M. Sahai, Dilbagh Singh and Sheikh Owais Ahmad, all Additional Directors General of Police, and other senior serving and retired Police officers.
Later, the recipients of the Medals had group photographs taken with the Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
