Srinagar, October 16 (Scoop News) – N. N. Vohra, Governor, today visited the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji and the Camp locations at Baltal and Domel to review the status of the special sanitation drive which he had directed to be carried out to clean up the entire Yatra area, immediately after the conclusion of this year’s pilgrimage. He utilized this visit to also discuss the projected arrangements at the Base Camps and Camps all along both the tracks for the next year’s pilgrimage.

Later, on reaching Baltal, the Governor was received by Showkat Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shahid Meraj, SSP Ganderbal, Mohammad Yousuf, Chief Executive Officer, Sonamarg Development Authority, Preet Pal Singh, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board, and other officers of the District Administration and the Shrine Board.
The Governor, along with R. K. Goyal, CEO, Showkat Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mohammad Yousuf, CEO, Sonamarg Development Authority, and other officers had an extensive inspection of the Baltal Base Camp and thereafter inspected the entire area upto Domel, particularly to review results of the post-Yatra special sanitation drive. The Governor gave on-the-spot instructions for preparing detailed lay out plans for the Base Camps and the enroute Transit Camps on both the routes, for bringing about further improvements during Yatra-2012.
At Domel, the Governor had detailed discussions with the Deputy Commissioner and SSP regarding the measures required to secure effective functioning of the Access Control system for ensuring the controlled flow of pilgrims across the crucial Check Barrier.
The Governor, while interacting with the officers of the District Ganderbal Administration, the Sonamarg Development Authority and of the SASB, at Baltal and Domel, appreciated the efforts of all the concerned agencies and of the local workforce for making the Shrine Board’s cleanliness campaign successful.
R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, stated that, as per the Governor’s directions, the implementation of the special sanitation drive at all the Camps, and along the Yatra routes, for ensuring the effective disposal of all garbage and wastes, had been regularly monitored by the CEO, Additional CEO and other officers. He added that the Governor had been personally monitoring this matter regularly.
