Srinagar, June 23 (Scoop News)-JK Governor N.N. Vohra, accompanied by Shri P.K. Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, conducted an aerial reconnaissance of the Pahalgam-Panjtarni route and thereafter visited Sheshnag Yatra Camp to review the security arrangements and the facilities being established for the establishment of hospital, shelter sheds, Langars, tents, shops, pre-fabricated huts, toilets, baths etc. The Governor had discussions with Col. Mahendra Pal Singh Mourya, CO, 10 Mahar Regt. and senior officers of J&K Police; CRPF, BSF and the Leader of the Avalanche Rescue Team regarding the arrangements to be made on the tracks from 2nd July onwards.
The Governor directed Shri Kishori Lal, the Camp Director and Shri Devinder Singh Bandral, Additional Camp Director to ensure cleanliness and effective sanitation within the Camp area. He also called for close co-ordination amongst various agencies involved in the management of the Yatra and directed the Camp Directors to have regular daily meetings with all the security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure immediate resolution of any arising problem. Shri Vohra directed the concerned Departments particularly the Pahalgam Development Authority to speed up ongoing works to ensure completion of the Chandanwari-Pissu Top- Sheshnag-Mahagunus Top- Poshpatri-Panjtarni track by 28thJune latest so as to ensure that all arrangements can be timely put in place.
The Governor was informed that in addition to 09 langars, 287 toilets & 33 baths; 13 shelter sheds, 800 tents; and 50 shops are being set up at Sheshnag. The Governor was informed that arrangements have been made for stocking of LPG Cylinders, rice, atta, sugar, wheat bran and kerosene oil at the Camp.
The Governor was informed that water supply and telephones are now functional at the Camp while power is likely to become available later this week. Elaborate arrangements have also been made for extending medical facilities to Yatris. A Base Hospital, Medical Camp by ISM, Army, BSF and CRPF are being set up at the Camp location. The Health Department will also be setting up Emergency Aid Centre between Sheshnag and Wavbal Top, Wavbal Top, Kelnar and Dardkote. Further, Medical Aid Centre is being set up at MG Top and Poshpathri. BSF / CRPF will also be setting up Medical camps at Wavbal Top, M.G. Top and Poshpathri.
To help the old / infirm/ sick Yatris in negotiating difficult stretches on the Yatra routes, Mountain Rescue Teams each comprising 10 Police personnel shall be deployed at Sheshnag, Wavbal and Poshpathri. The Governor was also informed that NDRF teams will be deployed at Pissu Top and Sheshnag and SDRF teams will be deployed at Sheshnag, M.G. Top and Poshpathri. Dog squads of Army/ CRPF will also be deployed at these locations, spokesperson added. (Scoop News)
