Srinagar, May 10(Scoop News) –K. M. Singh, Member, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.
During their over hour long meeting, the Governor had wide-ranging discussions with Singh on a wide spectrum of issues relating to Disaster Management, particularly focusing on the vital importance of implementing schemes for securing capacity building and preparedness of all concerned stakeholders within and outside the State Government agencies, effectively training identified manpower and taking all required measures which would enable the State Disaster Management Authority to timely and effectively deal with emergent situations like earthquakes, floods, snow avalanches, landslides and other calamities.
The Governor and Singh also deliberated the modalities for putting in place an effective Disaster Management Plan for Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2012 with a view to evolving an optimum level of preparedness and response during a worst case scenario, evacuation arrangements and medical preparedness at the various en-route Camps etc.
They also reviewed the Disaster management preparedness and anti-stampede measures in respect of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
