JK Governor visits Mata Khir Bhawani Shrine

Srinagar, May 17 (Scoop News) –N. N. Vohra, Governor, visited Mata Khir Bhawani Shrine at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district today.

          The Governor participated in the commencement of the 3-day Maha Chandi Yagya being organized by the Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan from today and prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State.

Pt. Omkar Nath Shastri, Chairman of the Sansthan, briefed the Governor about the activities of the Sansthan, particularly about the to-date status of the publication of the second part of the Primer of Sharda language and thanked him for providing support for this purpose.

The Governor lauded the valuable work being done by the Sansthan in varied spheres, particularly for the revival and promotion of Sharda language and assured all possible support for the promotion of various languages and literature in the State.

The local people presented a Memorandum containing their demands to the Governor which included, interalia, development of a Tourist Village and the upgradation of a school in the area. The Governor discussed these demands with  Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Revenue, who was present on this occasion, and asked the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, to early resolve the difficulties faced by the local population.     

Earlier, the Governor and  Ajaz Ahmad Khan were honoured by the Sansthan by presenting mementos to them.  

 Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor;  Vinod Koul, Secretary, Revenue;  Sarmad Hafiz, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal;  Shahid Mehraj, SP Ganderbal, members of Kashmiri Pandit community and locals were present on this occasion.
