Jammu, April 22 (Scoop News)- N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amaranathji Shrine Board, visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar today to meet all concerned officers and review the arrangements being made for the pilgrims for this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra. As earlier notified, the Yatra will commence on 2nd July 2015, simultaneously along both the Baltal and Chandanwari routes.
Addressing the meeting of officers held in the Yatri Niwas, the Governor reviewed the sector–wise and item–wise arrangements for the Yatra which included the reception of Yatris at the Railway Station and the Bus Stand; On–spot Registration of the pilgrims who arrive without having secured Advance Registration; the requirements of accommodation, catering, hygiene, sanitation, etc. He directed the District and Divisional authorities to ensure satisfactory arrangements in regard to water, power supply, garbage disposal, medicare, transport, etc for the pilgrims. He also directed that the Tourism Deptt. should timely examine the provision of lockers for the safe custody of the Yatries belongings.
The Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure against any unregistered pilgrims being allowed to proceed to the Valley and directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of On–spot Registration counters at Saraswati Dham and Jammu Haat. He also directed that transport arrangements should be made for ferrying the Yatris to the On–spot Registration centers and proper check being exercised on the rates to be charged for such travel. For the facilitation of Yatris, the Governor desired that pamphlets containing complete guidance and information about available facilities, routes, distances etc should be got printed and distributed among the arriving Yatris, from Lakhanpur Post onwards.
The Governor directed the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, to ensure provision of adequate arrangements for the Yatris at all the transit camps to take care of both the normal and emergency requirements and asked the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to very early convene a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and representatives of all departments and agencies which are concerned with the maintenance of Jammu-Srinagar Highway to ensure that timely steps are taken to make it traffic worthy for two way movement well before end June 2015.
The Governor asked the Inspector General Police (Jammu Division) to effectively ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra and asked the CEO, SASB to urgently ensure large scale publicity of the Yatra related Dos and Don’ts and Advisories, through the print and electronic media.
