Srinagar/Jammu,October 18 (Scoop News) – The Governor, N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister,Omar Abdulla, Information Department and Jounalists have expressed grief over the sad demise of noted journalist and former Director General of Information, Satpal Sahni.
In a condolence message, the Governor, who had known Sahni for several years, conveyed his sincere sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the sad demise of veteran journalist and social activist Sat Pal Sahni, describing him the man of high stature and socio-political acumen.
In a condolence message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that the contribution of late Sat Pal Sahni in the field of journalism has been of high order. He will not only live in the hearts of journalist fraternity with great regard but people will also remember him for his service to the society.
The Chief Minister expressing solidarity with the bereaved family has prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
The Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana has expressed grief and sorrow on the sad demise of noted journalist and former Director General of Information Shri Satpal Sahni.
Rana described Sahni who was popularly known as Sati Sahni as a repository of the history of Jammu & Kashmir and said with the death of Sati Sahni the journalistic fraternity and the civil society of the state has lost a valuable asset.
The Political Advisor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul and courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss.
Director Information Farooq Renzu Shah has condoled demise of former Director General of Information department, Satpal Sahini.
A condolence meeting was held under the chairmanship of Renzu in the directorate of Information here, in which rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. The meeting recalled the contribution of late Sahini particularly his role in revamping the department and improving public relations.
Speaking on the occasion, Renzu said that the new officers got a lot of grooming during his tenure, as he was a core professional with a lot of experience in the field of journalism. He also prayed for peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Among others, deputy Directors, Information Officers and reporters were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile A condolence meeting was held in the office of the Joint Director of Information,
Joint Director Information, Jammu, Soujanya Kumar Sharma described S P Sahni a great journalist who by the dint of his hard work in the profession got the prestigious post of Director General of Information and served the department for a few years.
Later, a two minutes silence was observed to pray for peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to face the irreparable loss.
The whole press community has also arranged a condolence meeting at Press Club Jammu tomorrow at 11 am. All the media persons are informed accordingly.
All Jammu Newspaper Editors Association (AJNEA) has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Sati Sawhni, photo-journalist and former Director General of Information Department.
President of the Association, S. Ravinder Singh lauded the role played by Sati Sahni in the field of photo journalism. He said that Sahni by dint of his hard-work got the prestigious post of Director General of Information and served the department for a few years. Singh further said that Sahni also remained general secretary of Institute of Public Opinion (IPO) and held the post for many years.
The association also observed two minutes silence in the memory of the departed soul and prayed to the Almighty to bestow strength upon the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
