In a message of felicitations, the Governor described Islam as the religion of peace and said that the holy day marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whose life was an embodiment of love, equality and brotherhood.
The Governor hoped that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of harmony, brotherhood, peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has felicitated the people on the eve of Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW), wishing the day to be the harbinger for peace and prosperity of the State and the country.
In his greetings message, Omar said that Almighty Allah has sent the Prophet Mohammad (SAW) as Rehmatan-Lil-Aalmeen (merciful and compassionate for the entire cosmos and all the worlds).
Reminding the people of the teachings of the greatest apostle of Allah, he said that the sincere service to public and generosity towards poor and needy has been listed on top by the Prophet of Islam. “Rendering this service to the people with commitment amounts to following the footprints of Prophet Mohammad (SAW)”, he said adding that the day provides us an opportunity to pray and seek forgiveness from Allah and welfare for ourselves and entire humanity.
Omar said that this holy day which is celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) all over the world calls us for sincere efforts to create a peaceful society based on justice.
Meanwhile arrangements with regard to celebration of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and overall Law and Order situation was reviewed at a high level meeting here today.

Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul has appealed the people to maintain age old mutual brotherhood at all casts. He said
We have accepted these traditions at all the testing time.
Gul was taking stock of the arrangements made by the administration for conducting the final Milad occasion tomorrow.
Gul was informed that all the arrangements for providing every facility to the devotees have been made. He was informed that sanitation, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply besides health care arrangements have already been made in advance. He was further informed that 150 SRTC and 700 KMD buses have been kept available for districts and one way traffic have been ensured.

The Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda today visited Hazratbal and took stock of the Police bandobast made in connection with Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
The Director General of Police inspected the deployment of the Police in the area to facilitate the people visiting the shrine in connection with the auspicious occasion.
Khoda visited the Police camp already set up for the purpose at Hazratbal and held a meeting of the officers of Traffic, Homeguards and other wings of the Police deployed there. The parking of vehicles at the already identified places also came under discussion in the meeting. He asked the officers to ensure that devotees visiting Hazratbal do not face any difficulty. He also stressed for close coordination among all the wings of the Police.
Khoda directed the Traffic authorities to maintain one-way traffic during the Eid-i-Milad and on the following Friday, when there is huge rush of devotees.
He also directed for deploying Home Guards Volunteers at various locations en-route Hazratbal for the services the pilgrims and devotees.
